WIC is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children providing nutritious food (via prescriptive checks), individual counseling and nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals to other needed services to at-risk, low-to-moderate income women and children up to the age of five.
Help with Buying Healthy Foods
As a WIC participant, you will receive special checks to buy healthy foods like milk, juice, cereal, eggs, beans or peanut butter. You will also receive nutrition education from our trained WIC staff either individually or in a group setting.
Promote and Support Breastfeeding
WIC mothers are encouraged to breastfeed in order to improve the nutrition status of their infants. Mothers who choose to breastfeed can receive counseling and breastfeeding educational materials, as well as electric breast pumps, breast shells, and nursing supplementers to assist in the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding.
Who Can Participate?
The WIC program is designed to serve certain categories of women, infants, and children; participants living in the area near our clinic, participants with income at or below income level set by the State agency, and participants determined with nutrition risk.
